Q: Why should I buy my supplements from Inbounds Athletics?
A: Inbounds Athletics only sells sports nutritional products from companies that participate in the Informed-Choice / HFL Sport Science banned-substance screening program. No other supplements are allowed to be sold on the site.
Q: Aren't there other companies that test for banned-substances other than Informed-Choice?
A: Yes, however none of those other companies test to the highest standard and protocols available; ISO 17025, which what Informed-Choice / HFL Sport Science uses to ensure accurate test results every time. Founded in 1964, HFL Sport Science is a WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) experienced lab and the largest sport regulatory laboratory in the world. No other banned-substance organization can match its expertise and credibility.
Q: Can't I order the same Informed-Choice / HFL Sports Science tested products from other sites?
A: Not necessarily. You would never know if what they stock or what you order is from an actual tested lot or batch. Not only does Inbounds Athletics only sell sport nutritional products from manufacturers participating in the Informed-Choice / HFL Sport Science program, we also only sell products from the lots / batches that were actually tested and certified against banned-substances. We guarantee that every sport nutritional product we stock and every sport nutritional product you buy from us is from an actual tested and certified lot / batch. We have the HFL Sport Science Certificate of Analysis on file to prove it.
Q: What is a Certificate of Analysis (CofA)?
A: A Certificate of Analysis, or otherwise referred to as a CofA, is an official document provided by an independent laboratory, reporting the findings of the analysis they preformed for the customer.
HFL Sport Science* provides a Certificate of Analysis for each lot/batch of product they test. Supplement companies will contract HFL to test their products for steroids and banned stimulants against the WADA prohibited substance list.
* HFL Sport Science is the Informed-Choice Certification Program laboratory.
Q: Do all "Certificates of Analysis" cover the same substances?
A: No. Typically a supplement company will contract a lab to perform a basic analysis for each batch of product they produce. This analysis will look for substances such as heavy metals, pesticides and microbials as well as ingredient label claims. In this case labs will provide a CofA reporting only on these substances it tests for.
Testing for banned substances such as Steroids and banned stimulants at low levels of detection established by WADA, requires highly specialized equipment and highly trained scientists to perform the analysis. The testing for banned substances is 10,000 times more sensitive than testing for heavy metals or pesticides for example. A separate CofA is required by an accredited lab for testing of steroids and banned substances.
Q: If a company is GMP Certified, does this mean the product has been tested for banned substances?
A: No. This is often a misconception that if a company is GMP certified, the product must have been tested and free of banned substances. Although GMP certification is important, it only certifies that the manufacturer has the necessary manufacturing documentation, processes and controls in place to ensure product quality, traceability and competence.
It does not cover the presence or absence of substances such as steroids and banned stimulants.
GMP certification does not require the product to be tested for banned substances at an ISO17025 accredited laboratory such as HFL Sport Science. Because of this, inadvertent contamination from banned substances is still possible even in GMP Certified manufacturing facilities.
